Layers of fun!

Chilly winds or not, layering is perhaps the easiest way to update and recycle an outfit and B: Kind shows you many ways to do just that. Layering with prints and colours not only makes the outfit more interesting but contrary to popular belief it actually helps in hiding problem areas. For instance, those with a thick waist and love handles can wear wraps and blazers to take away from the problem area. Layering also allows you to wear the same shirt or same dress over and over again in different ways without getting bored.

1. Add a shirt: Wearing your shirt with jeans or cotton pants is too plain vanilla. Try instead to use your shirt as a jacket with a graphic tee inside or wear it over a maxi dress or a tiny flared skirt for a very girly look.

2. Add leggings/ tights: Wear your summer romper, short dress, or tiny skirt with a pair of leggings in any colour. Add funk with some neon or keep it chic with greys and navy blues.

3. Add a statement neckpiece: If you thought layering was only about adding layers of clothes then you were wrong. Add a chunky neckpiece over your favourite shirt or a plain shirt dress to instantly jazz up the outfit. Don't be afraid to mix colours and prints.

4. Add a blazer: A boyfriend style blazer, a shrug or a jersey wrap can lift the plainest outfit to new level of fashion glory. Mix colours and wear florals with bright pinks, oranges with browns and navy blues with reds. Also, experiment with prints mixing florals and polka dots, stripes and checks and even paisley prints with stripes.

5. Add a brooch, belt or scarf: These simple accessorising techniques are great ways to dress up to brunch or a movie night. Big elastic belts work well for thin waists and hourglass shapes, thin belts worn low on the hip are a great way to add curves to narrow hips and a thick midriff. Scarves can also be used on thin frames as belts worn at the thinnest part of the waist. You can also add the scarf to your bag to add colour and fun.
