Printed fashion

Trend Update:
This season is all about prints whether they are trousers, blouses, footwear or purses; there’s no escaping them this fall. Pick from the varied choices like checks, stripes, animal prints, polka dots, abstract prints or paisley patterns.
Embrace prints in your daily wear, no matter your size or shape. In fact, wearing prints is a good way to distract attention of your problem areas.

Mixing prints is in trend now. Be experimental, mix stripes with floral prints or mix abstracts with polka dots. Although it doesn't come naturally to everyone, start with mixing neutral colour palettes. Pick one major print and complement with a minor or a safer print. So if you pick your major print as big flowers then your minor print should be a more basic like stripes, polka dots or simple checks.
Be experimental and mix abstracts with polka dots

Prints and different body types:
Pear shapes: If you're bottom heavy, opt for a printed top and black pants to conceal your problem areas. Add a pair of gladiator flats to complete your look
Apple shapes: For those of you who are top heavy reverse the strategy by wearing a black top and a beautiful printed skirt. Don't forget a pair of basic black heels to finish the look.
Hourglass shapes: Pick a floral dress or leopard print dress and add a belt to your waist to accentuate your curves.
Taller shapes: You can play around with prints extremely easily. Choose a floral maxi dress add some beads, flats and you are off to a Sunday brunch.

Opt for a checks print tunic with black leggings if you are heavy on the hips

Accessorise with prints:

If you think prints are too bold or busy for your style then incorporate this style in a subtle ways. Wear accessories -- shoes, bags or jewellery -- with prints and patterns. A simple outfit with a pair of leopard print pumps or an LBD with a floral print clutch will draw attention and will balance out the look.
Pick a floral dress/tunic and add a belt to your waist to accentuate your curves

The printed faux pas:
  • Don't wear head to toe prints ever.
  • Wear only one print piece at a time.
  • Never wear printed accessories when wearing clothes in busy prints or patterns.
  • No matter how you do it, enjoy your prints and patterns and above all have fun with them. Just remember not to overdo it.

Layers of fun!

Chilly winds or not, layering is perhaps the easiest way to update and recycle an outfit and B: Kind shows you many ways to do just that. Layering with prints and colours not only makes the outfit more interesting but contrary to popular belief it actually helps in hiding problem areas. For instance, those with a thick waist and love handles can wear wraps and blazers to take away from the problem area. Layering also allows you to wear the same shirt or same dress over and over again in different ways without getting bored.

1. Add a shirt: Wearing your shirt with jeans or cotton pants is too plain vanilla. Try instead to use your shirt as a jacket with a graphic tee inside or wear it over a maxi dress or a tiny flared skirt for a very girly look.

2. Add leggings/ tights: Wear your summer romper, short dress, or tiny skirt with a pair of leggings in any colour. Add funk with some neon or keep it chic with greys and navy blues.

3. Add a statement neckpiece: If you thought layering was only about adding layers of clothes then you were wrong. Add a chunky neckpiece over your favourite shirt or a plain shirt dress to instantly jazz up the outfit. Don't be afraid to mix colours and prints.

4. Add a blazer: A boyfriend style blazer, a shrug or a jersey wrap can lift the plainest outfit to new level of fashion glory. Mix colours and wear florals with bright pinks, oranges with browns and navy blues with reds. Also, experiment with prints mixing florals and polka dots, stripes and checks and even paisley prints with stripes.

5. Add a brooch, belt or scarf: These simple accessorising techniques are great ways to dress up to brunch or a movie night. Big elastic belts work well for thin waists and hourglass shapes, thin belts worn low on the hip are a great way to add curves to narrow hips and a thick midriff. Scarves can also be used on thin frames as belts worn at the thinnest part of the waist. You can also add the scarf to your bag to add colour and fun.

Do try these tips at home and let us know what you think. If you have any more layering ideas, feel free to share them here
